Lagotto Romagnolo were listed with the American Kennel Club (AKC) in the Foundation Stock Service (FSS) program. AKC requires a parent club with a strong following and a large number of the breed registered with FSS to be considered for registration with the AKC. The newly formed Lagotto Club of America adheres to the Breed Standard of the country of origin, Italy. The Breed Standard is the blueprint of the breed and all breeders try to breed as closely to this standard as possible. Here is a link to the breed standard in

Explore the links at the right to find various venues to show your Lagotto. Currently all Lagotti are being registered with the American Kennel Club as we move forward to full recognition. You may show your Lagotto in AKC Tracking, Rally, Obedience and Agility. January 2013 the Lagotto was accepted to show in Conformation in Miscellaneous Class with the AKC. We cannot compete outside of that group but earn points towards a Certificate of Merit (CM). It is hoped that the breed will be fully recognized by AKC mid-2015 when the Lagotto will enter the Sporting Group.
