Memorial for Adrina (10/28/17)

When we first got this dog, we picked her up after an airline error of 8 hours at LAX.  We camped that night in Malibu and the first thing she did was proceed to climb out of her ex-pen.  That was the start of our fabulous/energetic life with Adrina.

Our beloved family member, Adrina, (Kan Trace Adrina at Shivaree “Adrina or Drina”) passed away (March 30, 2005 – September 28, 2017).

Our apologies to author Jenny Joseph from her book “Warning” for this version of the famous poem “When I am an old Woman, I shall wear purple”.  But here is our version:

When I am an old bitch, I shall wear a purple collar
With a red leash which doesn’t go and doesn’t suit me,
And I shall spend my pension on Italian wine and tennis balls
And stuffed toys and say we’ve no money for kibble
I shall sit down on the pavement when I’m tired
And gobble up samples in shops and bark at the littlest noise
And pee on the neighbor’s shrubbery
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out and stare up at the rain
And run in circles in the house to my life’s content
And learn to spit.
I will jump on the bed and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of chicken at a go

But, for now I shall still set a good example for the puppies.
And continue to sit and stay on command.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised,
When suddenly I am old and start to wear purple.

She was my protector!

John was watching me as I was upholstering a chair with a staple gun.  Adrina was terrified of the sound and ran around behind John.  As you can see, she was poised to remove that awful device should it attack.
